Rule Britannia!

In David Bowie's song, Life on Mars? he sings, "Rule Britannia is out of bounds, to my mother, my dog, and clowns".

This year marks Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee, 60 years as the Queen of England. Recently, someone has created a graffiti style tribute complete with 'Aladdin Sane' stripes on a wall in England. See here for more details.
Elizabeth Sane: The startling stencilled graffiti artwork, believed to be the work of Banksy, that has appeared on a Bristol street as the nation celebrates the Silver Jubilee

It is believed to be the work of the famous graffiti artist, Banksy, who had recently stenciled this picture (below) on another wall in London, incorporating real Union Jack bunting, to protest sweatshop conditions preparing for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations:
Sharp political message: This image of a boy slaving over a sewing machine with bunting attached appeared next to a Poundland shop in north London just in time for the Jubilee

Regardless of who drew the Queen/Aladdin Sane, I love it! Long live the Queen! And Aladdin Sane (David Bowie) too!

She's pretty classy, our Queen. Hope Prince Phillip recovers soon.Hard to believe he's almost 91.

I saw only a few, quick shots on TV, but it looks like a great celebration. I'm sure she's not a perfect woman/leader, but she has done well keeping an even keel throughout everything from WWII to Diana's marriage, divorce and death. Even more impressive has been Phillip's quiet presence by her side all these years.

I loved watching all the ceremonies on TV. It was so nice to see the queen smiling for a change. I think she's getting prettier in her old age. :)
