Flies are probably the number one pests.
The horses wear fly masks as protection against them.
Unfortunately, I can't find any fly masks to fit the alpacas and Thelma has a messy eye. The vet looked at it and said that it didn't need medication...yet. It does look better than this, for now.
To get rid of the nasty pesty flies, I set up fly traps. I think this one is more than full and ready to be dumped out.
Here's another kind of fly exterminator. It looks pretty full too.
I also hate the varmints that dig these holes, moles, I think.
As far as things that really bug- how about leaving water hoses laying around so that the horses can step on them and bend the screw in ends or even trip on them?

Nice eye shot of Yalla! Moles have completely killed the backyard at my mother's house, and they are really hard to kill. I know she spent thousands of dollars trying to get rid of them.
Great choices. I feel so sorry the animals that have to fight off the flies. You should design a fly mask for Thelma and Louise. :)
Poor things! Those pesky flies need to move on away. I agree...more fly masks should be created. : ) Nice shots.
Poor Thelma! Any way you can attach some screen to her halter?
we have a huge amount of flies here to lately , and today I saw a swarm of wasps fly over !
I just asked another blogger if there is anything ti smear round the horse's eyes, your mask looks like a good solution.
I hate flies and other assorted pests. Wonder if one of those fly ear nets or burro fly masks (like 7msn has for the donkeys) would fit her. You could probably rig something up too.
Poor Yalla, hate to say it but I hope ya'll get a good freeze to kill off all the flies, them warm back up a bit..:-)
Those flies are mean. The fly masks are a good idea though.
I like that you included things that bug you.. as well as the pests. I am bad about leaving the hose lying around, but I hate leaky connections. I should get less lazy and more smart!
Love to see the fly trap full of dead ones!
Cool where do you get the reusable fly trap? And what do you put in it? I buy the bag ones. They last a while, but aren't reusable because you can't dump them out.
