'Til the Sun Drips Blood

The wildfires in Arizona are terrible monsters, eating away at the natural world around us, destroying beautiful trees and homes. Click on the link and watch the news video. It's hard to watch a grown man cry.

It is even affecting our air, two hundred miles away. The first two photos were taken last evening. There was a haze in the air and the rancid smell of smoke. I wanted to look around to see if I could see flames, it was that strong. I heard that in Denver they couldn't see their bordering Rocky Mountains and even as far away as Iowa, they could see the haze in the air.

These photos were of sunrise this morning. I guess the one good thing about the smoky air is that you get fantastic sunrises and sunsets.

We almost had rain yesterday. I could smell it and I think I saw about ten drops. C'mon people, let's all pray for rain in the southwest. Put those fires out. Do a rain dance if you can.

Amazing

I was amazed at the sky this morning. I did not edit these photos in any way. Isn't it gorgeous?

Sunday (3/14/10 Sunrise / Sunset)

This week's Sunday Stills challenge is sunrise and sunset photos recently taken.

These photos were all taken just a few days ago because Ed suggested that we don't go to our picture archives. The crow photo is straight from the camera, believe it or not, because when I tried to enhance it, it lost all the color.

Here's one more picture of a sunrise after our most recent snow.

Splendid Sunrise

I decided to take my camera along with me to feed the horses this morning. Here is the beautiful sunrise as I leave my house and look to the east.

Here is a nose full of Nadia and little Yalla! in her whiskers.Every morning I see this crow around the barn area. He often flies over to sit in this tree while I am around and then he flies back to the horses. More on him later.
Isn't this a strange cloud formation?
Nadia has the cutest little ears, doesn't she? And just look at that sky behind her!Buddha sits on the back of the couch every morning just waiting for me to come back from the barn. He always gives me a high five or two before he lays back down
and begins to groom himself. According to legend, the Japanese Chin is supposed to be related to the cat. I believe it.
Then, it's off to the bathroom to get ready for work, grab some food for lunch, pour myself another cup of coffee, and head out to the car.

Just the Pinkness

When I went to feed my horses this morning, I decided to bring along my camera. I was glad I did. Look at the beautiful skies!
This is looking northeast.
looking northwest
This is looking west. Isn't that streak just wild?
Here is the sun rising to the east
