See these eyes so red

It seems this past week has been the time for eye injuries! My son came by and showed me his face. He fell down some stairs a few days prior and didn’t even know about his eye until he saw my photo.

A few days later Lisa had her accident and scraped her face a bit.

Then, a couple of days ago, I was visiting my mom. She has a black Pug named Toby. My dog Gunnar, a German Shorthaired Pointer, decided to lay down with Toby’s rawhide chew toy. As Toby was walking by, unconcerned about the rawhide, Gunnar suddenly got possessive of his new found treasure and lunged at Toby growling and snapping. Toby yipped and jumped away. We checked him over and he seemed fine although he was very shook up. In the morning, however, we noticed that his eye was very red. We took him to the vet and he said that he’d suffered eye trauma. He gave him an anti-inflammatory and a pain reliever and said to watch him over the next few days. We noticed that he has trouble seeing but he also has cataracts forming in both eyes so it seems he has been compensating for his poor vision until this injury really impaired his vision. Hopefully, he will improve quickly. Fortunately, it wasn’t worse. I have seen photos on the internet of Pug eyes coming completely out of their socket (YUCK!!!!) because they have such bulging eyes and shallow eye sockets.

Poor Ross, Lisa and especially, Toby! I wish you all quick healing!

Wow, what a bad couple of days you have had! Poor little dog, I never wanted a dog with eyes like that, always afraid they would get knocked out. Hope everyone heals up quickly!

Poor guy. I love Pugs, but I know they can have their health problems. Praying he'll be OK.

Poor Toby!! Man that sure looks painful. My last dog's name was Toby. He died just over a year ago now. We still miss him. I sure hope your little pooch's eye is going to be okay.
When is your mare due to foal??
