Is she or isn't she?

I suspect that Louise is due to have a cria in three weeks. When I bought her, I was told she was bred and due in October. I asked the vet when she was here and she said that she appeared to be but without an exam she couldn't verify. Louise did NOT like the vet touching her and we didn't want to risk her getting kicked. I can't catch Louise even though I can hand feed her and touch her chin (improvement there). I expect that if/when the cria is born my son and I will have to get out there in the first few hours and corral Louise so that we can handle the cria. I will need to give the cria an enema and iodine the umbilical cord.
Here is a photo of Thelma from the side. This is before I medicated her skin condition, btw.

Here's Louise.Ya think??

It's all very exciting. I estimate October 21 as the due date. Alpacas carry for eleven months just like horses. I'm debating about sleeping out there like I did for Annie. Hmmm, Yalla! was born in June and it was cold. This time around, it could be snowing! I shall have to decide if I'm tough enough for it. However, it could give me first handle on the cria too. I will definitely want to blanket it for the first couple of days.

Yes! Very exciting!
But oh my! It could definitely be snowing by then. Poor little cria.
Are you building a shelter for the alpacas in time for winter? If not, can you create a corral for them inside the barn? Then you could also camp out for the birth.

I can't wait to see a tiny baby Alpaca, I have never seen one. Keep the camera with you at all times. Just a request.
