And in the Death

I always feel bad when I trap mice in my tackroom but this time I got a twofer! Where in the world did the baby come from? It looks newborn. I turned the trap around to take the photo. Could she have delivered it when she got killed?? Comments?

Ick! Poor thing, but it's necessary. She must have not been killed instantly I guess and the shock made her deliver maybe? That's the only thing I can think of. Unless maybe she was carrying it when she got trapped.

Looks a bit premie, probably so. One less future adult to eat saddles and poot all over everything!

I have NO idea, but mice in the tack room is a huge problem up at the ranch. They run over EVERYTHING and leave poop EVERYWHERE! I put out a couple of glue traps and caught six of them last month!!!

Oh Dear! I am not a fan of mice but that makes me a little sad. I just wish they would stay away from feed and tack and ,well me .

Hmmm, maybe she was carrying it? I don't believe she could have lived after being caught in the trap. I think it's an immediate death. I do wonder if it could have been born at the moment the trap slammed- kind of pushed it out or something. Anyway, it's too bad but I have pee stains on one of my saddles so I can't leave them be. I just wish they'd live in the barn and stay out of my tackroom!

Hmmm. Could be. She does look rather swollen in the vulva area. Did the baby have any hair?
Newborn mice are born hairless and are often called 'pinkies'. They don't get hair growth until they are at least a week or more old.
